ARB lockers for Series 2a?
I have an 88 Series 2a..pretty much stock suspension with a Warn 8274..I have a friend selling arb lockers off his 96 D-1 for a really good deal. I dont want to give these up..What do I need to do to make this work for my series truck? Can I just take the whole diff out of the disco and install into the series or do I need to do more than that?
Or would I better off placing the lockers in my 95 LWB? (cost wise)
Discoverys use 3.54:1 gearing in the differentials. Stock Series is 4.7:1. You could swap diffs (you'd have to do front and rear) but your gearing would be off... and the Discovery also has 24 spline axles, the Series truck much weaker 10 spline.
It can be done, but it's not ideal. The lower 3.54 gearing would be tough on a stock 2.25L petrol. And of course you'd need new axles front and rear. Typically, an ARB setup on a series truck would involve 4.7:1 versions of the locker, with the rear axle being upgraded to 24 spline axles.

so what your saying is that I could take the ARB Disco diff and remove the R&P and install into the series diffs? I need to make a quick decision on whether to purchase these lockers..I'm not planning to use the lockers all the time, so I dont plan to get on it.. Just when I'm in a bad situation.
