Default Connecting a Speedometer Cable

Well guys, I've done a search, and looked in the books I have, and I just can't seem to find out where the end of the speedometer cable connects.

The original cable is connected to the speedo, and it comes into the engine compartment and abrubtly ends, as if it has been cut off.

I know this is probably a pretty novice question, but the help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It connects right behind the emergency brake drum on the left side of the transfer case. You can see it right under the drill in this pic.

Just make sure it doesn't get near the exhaust. That's what does most of them in.
