Cooper Courser Traction LT 7.50x16. 235/85-16s are very close to that for more options. Cooper Discoverer ST is a good and very proper looking tire on a series as well.

I'm not sure even god knew. The IIa parts book lists about 15-20 different tire sizes/tread patterns. Generally a skinny tire though, similar in profile to the 7.50x16.

My 65 had some whacko non-DOT approved, heavy as hell Michelins. It's running 265-75 Cooper AT's now. Do you want to restore it to what Jebus would drive or put something on there that looks correct but works well?

What truck, ie 88, or 109, and what area are you in? 109's imported to North America had a slightly wider tire (still narrow for NA standards..)

Quote from the guru of Land Rovers in Nova Scotia....
"NA spec series 3 came with H78 15 tires since in the early 70s 16 inch tires were like hens teeth this side of the Atlantic. So the 225/75/16 would be closer to the H78 15. the 7.50 16s only came on 109s with 6.50 16 fitted to 88s for much of the rest of the world. If you have a NA series 3 88 the speedo will be calibrated for the smaller tire." -John Cranfield. hope that clears things up, I assume that you are in the US? Here is the original thread on another forum... http://www.landroveraddict.com/smf/i...topic=357347.0

A '64 109 would typically have had 7.50x16 tires. That said....

All the above said- to simplify--- it is a 109, it came standard with 7.50 x 16 bias ply tires. Probably Dunlop or Avon Ranger (same tread and very similar to the Michelin XY which is still available and radial).

Greg, that is assuming that it was a NAS spec import.... There were different sizes for different markets. They still have not said where they are and which market the truck was intended for. Mine being Danish spec, had 15 inch rims.... but thankfully have fitted 16 inch since I got it...

Ok, I pulled out my 1965 owners manual, pretty close to the 67.
It's for the world wide market. The 88 came with 6.00x16, 7.00x16 and 7.50x16 as "standard" tyres. The 109 came with 7.50x16 The Forward Control with 9.00x16.
