Default cross reference of parts

Hi All
Am new here. This is a very good forum for finding out about land rovers. I finally found a series rover. It is a 74 series III 88. I am itching to get it safetied and out on the road/or off.
My question is; Is there a list of parts for tune up that can be cross reference to parts that I can get at the local auto store. ( plugs, wires, thermostat, etc)
Thanks
Seumas

Here is our local clubs list of alternate part listings..... it has been compiled over the years. It is a Canadian club, so some of the part numbers may not work elsewhere, and sometimes you will have to cross reference that part number to a manufacturer that the local shop carries... but so far, I have been able to find all the parts that I needed that were availlable on the list... here is the link...

http://www.ovlr.org/OVLR.alt.parts.html

hope it helps... but one warning... some of the parts at your local shop may not be as good as geniune LR parts, and some are better. Also, make sure you check prices... I did all my wheel bearings with parts from Wise Owl parts (a LR parts dealer in Canada) for less than I could do with parts from any of the local parts stores, including overnight shipping half way across the country.... good luck, and congrats on the series...

OH just noticed you were in Nova Scotia.. I hope you have joined the MORE (Martime Organization of Rover Enthusiasts) forum, as it is in your back yard.... I know quite a few of the Nova Scotia crowd, they are great. If you have not joined their club, here is the web link... http://www.maritimerovers.org/smf definately worth you checking out. Tell them pickuprover sent you... I am on that one as well.... they are a very active club, and a great group of people to help with any problems, with a huge wealth of knowledge.... hope to see you there.... Andrew.
