Default Electronic distributor

Hi everyone, I have a 66 2a with just the 4 banger in it. I bought a AutoEra electronic dstributor around 2 years ago, but due to a move I am just putting it in now. However, when I put it in I did not get any spark at all, and I am wondering if it is something that I am doing wrong? I had a friend who is a professional mech come over to try and put it in (he doesnt work on land rovers though), and he could not get it working. I am a little confused because on the elec. distrib. it has two wires running to the ignition coil, one lead is cathode and the other is anode, however, my original distrib only has one wire leading to the coil. Do I need to switch coils (i have a bousch in now) or are there any other mods that I need to do to get this to work? Is this the right elec distrib? or is there a better elect distrib out there to buy and where do I find it? I have a 12v alt in truck. Thanks for all of your help!

Cheers

Two wires sound correct. Find out from on-line or the manufacturer/ supplier what the wires go to. Mine has one wire go to each terminal on the coil but each is specific as to where it goes. Also- maybe to late- on mine, it came with a little plastic strip 5 thou thick, for setting the gap. it is plastic because a metal feeler gauge can short out the unit. That is on mine which is a different make than you have. A more popular unit is Petronics (Petronixs?).

I have the pertronix and it too has the 2 leads coming out of the cap. I will take a look at my instructions tonight as I remember there was a section telling what to do if you could not get a spark. Silly question but is it possible that the high voltage lead from the coil got jostled whilst you installed the new distributor?
