Default Engine cleaning

I'm restoring a 61 Series II 109 SW. I want to clean the engine before I start taking it apart. What is the best way to do this? I want all the grime and grease off. What do I need to plug-up or protect while cleaning? Thanks

A pressure washer is the way to go,,,,,,, Might want to cover the carburetor feed throat and distributor with a rubber glove or something of the likes..... Depends on how rambunchas you are with the wand.

Generally when it comes to the motor will clean it up a bit with the pressure washer while doing the whole vehicle and then really go at it once it's hanging form the hoist.

As above - Pressure washing but also you might want to try steam cleaning because it is much more gentle on electrics and heated oil is removed much easier too!

Default Degreaser & pressure washer

We sprayed some degreaser, let it sit and then pressure washed, twice. Cleaned up a lot of the grease and grime.
We dit it while on the chassis, but all body parts were removed and finished the underside on the hoist as already suggested. We ziplock bag and taped the carb and distributor.
I got a steamer after the fact for a present, but have not tried it on anything.
Good luck!
