Default Fuel tank replace/retrofix-fit

Well, the old tank has seen it's day and is leaking quite good,
with diesel the price it is, it's time for a replace.
Looking for a cheap/savvy option for an under the seat replacement, fabbing up brackets is no problem, modifying the sending unit tubes seems to be a no-brainer,
There are craptons of pick-n-pull salvage yards near me (gotta love the south)
Maybe I'll explore this weekend with my tape measure, unless there are some success stories here. Also, thinking about the plastic, marine/boating tanks provided the dimensions are right, I could even get two and put one in the other side...
Any help any one?
I really don't want to spend 200.00 + shipping for a new tank...
An Ebay used option could be worse than mine...
How much should I expect a fabricator to make one for (with baffles)?
I, again, wish I had a TIG welder
thanks for any help

you can get them lined as well... will stop the leaks, and probably less than a new tank, as long as stucturally the tank is good enough to hold the liner....

I saw somewhere where a guy added a jeep CJ tank in the rear.

gonna drop the tank this weekend, grind/cut off the skid and have a look see, If I have to go with a replacement is there anything that I need to know about diesel tanks verses gas tanks ie. if I try a "plastic" tank off of a junker car as I have a diesel.

Have you wandered into your friendly neighbourhood auto parts store? The local chain store I deal with has Series Land Rover tanks in the catalogue for about $180 C which would be about $150 US. I don't recall the make but they are North American made and are the same brand as the racing fuel cells they sell.

These are the under seat SWB and 109 3 door and pick up models.

For goodness sake be careful grinding off the skid. Maybe run exhaust into the tank or fill with water .
