Default Fuel under pressure question

I have noticed that on the several recent occasions that I have had to disconnect the fuel line from the carb, fuel has shot out of the line under pressure, enough to send it several feet. I do not recall this doing this on the first time I had to take this pipe off. Is it me or does this not sound right?

Once again thanks in advance for your help and comments.

Nic

Sounds right to me. Your fuel pump produces 4 to 6 PSI and has a check valve preventing it flowing back into the tank. When your float bowl is full, the needle valve shuts it off on that end; you're left with pressure in that line!
