Default glow plug resistance

Hi,
have just wired up a new glow plug circuit, parallel type with diesel glow plugs. I am running it through a 70 amp relay rather than direct from a switch as previously. My ammeter shows 60+ amps when operated, no smoke or heat in the circuit and the engine starts ok.
It seems a very high amperage was expecting about 40 amps. Anyone know if this is o.k. or have I got an inaccurate ammeter

Sorry I am not ignoring you... but unfortunately I have no idea about deisel resistance... was hoping someone would chime in... maybe posting it in the defender section might help as there might be more diesel guys?

HI,
no problem, their is no heat or smoke in the circuit when operated so I guess it is o.k., basically was looking for other peoples experiences. I know the older type glow plugs in series take around 35/40 amps so was surprised at the power drain.Still plenty of other problems to deal with.

Well I seem to remember that when my brothers diesel (2.5) used a lot of amps when we had to jump the relay..actually melted 16 guage wire..sooo... would not think that your draw would be too bad.... but not positive..
