MISSING THE HELL OUT OF SEATTLE
|
Hi I have been reading in several forums that Series trucks are going up in price. Some good series Vehicles going for $9k without being restored on original chassis with a decent bulkhead.
Others with Chassis replacement and in good/very good condition are going for up to 15-17k. Is this true?

Hello. I paid 8K for my Landy. It was the result of a failed EBay auction. Then...I had to fly down to GA from NH. Rent a U-Haul truck for the extra body parts and misc parts it came with, and the U-Haul trailer to trailer my gem back to NH. Tolls, Gas, rental fees were pricey, but the time spent with my son and condition of the Series III made it all worth while. An awesome vehicle. Look everywhere and the deals WILL show up. Many people were not ready to go and get it. Good Luck !! Tom

The last total rebuild I did, re-framed, re-plumbed, re-wired, re-painted etc, was last year, a 71 2A in Conniston Green. I even bought a new soft top, bows and tailboard for it. It was pretty fine, and I had about 30 calls on it when it hit the boards.I sold it for about 11K, and many people told me I sold it for too little. It was as nice as any 18K truck out there, but I don't try and charge for my time, just my out of pocket. My theory is simple, I do it for fun, I won't loose money, but when I sell them (or decide to sell them), I don't want to look at it for the rest of the year haggling over what might be the last bread crumb. I picked up a very nice Ex Mod 109 2A for 3500 which is slightly lower than they normally go for, but this one is so nice, it was a better bargain yet. A freind locally just found a '73 S3 on the side of the road for $4k, negotiated to 3200 and got what may be the most unmolested truck out there. I think the top dollar ones are the exception to the rule, but they are the ones that get the most attention, and generally show up in higher visibility spots like ebay, craigslist etc. The bargain papers still turn up the bargains. LRX has the whole spectrum, but I have bought off that site before also. I have stopped supporting the transport industry, won't buy one too far away anymore. There's a '61 MK2 Jag sitting on my trailer and it has decided it likes it better there than on the ground, so now, If I can't drive it home, have it follow me home, or best yet, get Paul Grant to pick it up and bring it home, I don't bother.

Prices are all over but I still believe over 5k should be either a pristine but worn runner from a southern state or a rechassiesd truck. Some people ask crazy prices.

Look at what the Willys Jeep has done in the market lately. You cant touch the thing in excellent condition for less than 13K. i've seen those POS sell for 30K on e-bay and its not even a LR. tom

Hi Guy's. thanks for the reply. I was just wondering because a chap from new mexico offered me 16k for mine and was just curious what the hell they were going for.
I would NEVER,NEVER sell my 109 as she is part of me but it was rather flattering. When we return to America together I expect to meet alot of you guy's BTW.

I'd be happy to let you try my '46 CJ2A, It goes anywhere any of my land rovers go. I'll even sell it to you if you want to complete the 'genetic' link to LR. $2000 and it's yours. We also have a restored '52 M38 if you are into the military flatfenders. That's my sons, and since he's consolidating into more LRs, he'll take $7500 for that one.
