Hello -
I have a 1973 III 2.25l that I have been trying to put a motor together. after I got the new motor installed, I realized I have to replace the pump/distributor drive assembly. Bought a new one, set the engine TDC, dropped it in. all is well. the oil filter assembly is off. how the heck to I get that hole lined up to put the securing screw in? there has got to be a trick. I just spent an hour under the truck with a flash light while trying to slowly turn the engine over. I can't even tell if the brass piece is turning. I have the plugs out to turn the motor better. my next plan was to hold the punch in there while my wife turns the key. thinking that once the hole lines up the punch that I have pressed in there will push into the hole when it makes a pass. Is this a stupid idea? anyone have a trick? Thanks! - I am starting to not like this project but hearing it run would change that. Peter S |
