The guy that "corrected" it was a dmv vin investigator.. its fine.

no its an sIII 88" I have registrations going back to the early 90s, its been a 2590xxx5B manufactured 7-73 since then.

At this point it doesn't matter if its accurate or not, just that it matches what is on the vehicle, and in the computer and not reported stolen. Its been "verified", its golden for the state of hawaii.

Now if for some reason that isn't a series III, I'm interested, but the state of hawaii need not be involved. But i'm pretty sure it matches up with this:

I'm also curious as to how to tell which year my engine is. I am thinking it MAY be a replacement from an earlier or maybe later model. some emissions stuff seems to be missing. a couple plugged hoses.

Zed; go to LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum (Powered by Invision Power Board). Look under the members vehicles section, just above the series section. A few of us have been talking about that just this week, and they're some good links that give you the engine numbers. Were posted by turner engineering, so definitely accurate.

thanx

I know what the vehicle is and that its a 2.25.

Just wondering if I can tell the year etc the engine is. Does it belong to that vehicle or does it belong to an 83 or a 53.. something..

Maybe I didn't find the right thread. I just clicked on ones you had been in. Found one talking about vins.

More pounding on the rover.

This time I succumbed to torching it much faster than the last time.
I am going to go out and buy that propane torch. Seems everything needs it.

Today it was trying to do an alignment. You can believe that there was no moving those ball joints without a good deal of work. One came right out.. one was frozen till heated quite a bit. (gas camp stove) Luckily I had a new pair in my parts box.
