I am rebuilding a 1963 IIA landrover and the steering seems to be very heavy. originally when the steering arm was not connected the wheel would turn very freely and now that i have put the steering box back on and with no steering arm attached it is difficult to turn so something in the steering box must be wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If you had the box and shaft seperated, and even got it back together with the same number of shims, you still need to readjust the screw which adjusts to preload on the worm screw.
