I have grown accustom to locking my Disco and Rangie up.
I plan to some day own a Series.... How do you lock the doors on a Series truck? |

I will offer this today.... with a key.... ![]() ![]() ![]() All smart ass comments aside, you just buy a locking style door handle. I have a lock cylinder on the drivers side and rear doors, and a thumb lock on the passengers (it is not a long reach across a series and with the series lock, if it has a cylinder, then you must us use a key to unlock it from the outside...) Have a look here. Wise Owl Innovations Incorporated - Land Rover Parts (middle bottom of the page, there is the keyed type and the non keyed type.) There is also the usage of a rather large salivating dog that usually deters anyone from trying to see if you have a keyed type lock.... ![]()

Thank you Jim, and Andrew. For once I didn't play the smart ass. That would have been precisely my answer, except I was showing an uncharacteristic amount of restraint. I can't remember how many of my series trucks have had lock cylinders on the doors, but I do know this, I never used them.

Where the hell did I post this?
I was in the Series area when I clicked the New Post Icon. Thanks for the smart ass and real answers. I see all the doors on the Series pictures and never see the locks. |

Every Series I've seen has had locks, though they were probably an option knowing Rover. However a lot of Series keys will open other Series locks FYI, at least in my experience.

I like to lock the doors even when I have no top on the truck, it gives me a great sense of security knowing that the thief who takes my radio will at least not be able to open the door..

Series locks are actually quite well made. They suffer a lot from dust accumulation. If you happen to be a locksmith,
or just real handy, you can take them apart, clean and lubricate them (with a dry lube) and they work very nice, thank you. The rear door lock suffers the most from dust. |
