Default more transmission help

Greetings,

First, thank you all out there in roverland for the help you have provided with getting this 71 88 up and running.

I have managed to find an overdrive and a rare bottom PTO($ouch).

However after all this the OD and bottom pto wont fit.
I have a transmission and a transfer case out of a 1 ton. Does anyone know if there is an overdrive that fits this particular transmission? I hate to swap transmissions as it came with the rover 88 new with the hydrowinch, I was also told the winch needs this transmission to function properly.

Im hoping someone can tell me if there is a overdrive that fits this 1 ton trans and were I can get one.

Thanks
John IV

No, no OD available for the 1-ton gearbox.
Have you verified the bottom PTO even works with the 1-Ton transfer case?
If you have a PTO to drive a hydraulic pump, or you have a hyd bottom PTO, then I can't think of any reason you'd a special gearbox. The hydraulic motor on the winch won't care.

Like I said in one of your other threads, I have a couple of spare SIIa complete gearboxes I'd be interested in trading for your 1-ton, as I'm building a 1-ton 109 and need a gearbox for it.

What are the numbers for a 1ton set up? I might have one laying around and I would like to put it in my rig.

I have a winch driven from the PTO mounted on the back of the T case, right where the OD should go. I'd sure love to have a bottom PTO so I could mount an OD. I keep going on multi thousand mile expeditions and an OD would make things nicer I expect. I don't want to loose my PTO winch, even though I didn't use it on this last trip. (3900 miles, got back on the 6th from the National Rally.) Anyone here go to it?

So--- How much would you want for the bottom mount PTO? Can I afford it?
What make OD do you have? Should I afford it too?

Greg, if you ditch your drop down PTO unit, Koenig I assume, I'd be interested in it.
