Default New member with questions about 2.5l diesel series 3

Hi I'm a new member but a long time rover enthusiast.

I live in Alaska and recently acquired a rhd 1981 series 3 pickup with a 14j 2.5 liter diesel engine (not its original engine).

Because this was not a commonly imported Land Rover in the U.S. I'm having trouble finding which distributors carry items such as oil filters for this engine.

Could someone help me find a distributor that carries parts for this engine?

Thank you.

Are you sure that it is a 2.5 liter diesel? I have seen a 5 clyinder diesel if that is what you have I will ask a friend of mine who has one. The only other diesel that I have heard of is 2.25 liter.

I agree that it would make sense for it to be a 2.25 based off of the year, but I researched the markings on the engine block, and they start with 14j, which are supposed to represent the slightly later 2.5.

I found an oil filter on ebay that says it's the one, but I want to be sure I'm getting the right piece before buying.

If it's a 2.5 NA Rover diesel it takes the same as the V8's, a Wix 51068 (4.3" tall) or 51515 (5.2" tall).

Thanks, I found one through Rovers North, and you are right it was listed the same as the V8.

Appreciate it guys.

Now I'm just waiting to get the parts I ordered so that I can swap out the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and start checking that everything is running well.
