Default Newbie Q: Swap pick up cab for other tops?

Hello, I'm researching different series rovers, seeing what's available for sale out there, etc.

Can you take a pick-up cab off and put on a normal full soft or hard top instead, with relative ease? Which models? (In particular I've seen a few 88" SIII's with pick-up cabs.)

Thanks

any top will go on any rover of the same length.. add a hoop for the hood..

Not sure about the pick up... Due to the bulkhead most 109s wouldn't have. but with the proper bulkhead.. or whatever the pickup has.. its the same thing.

Yes. Series II, IIa and III tops are fully interchangeable.
The pickup cab (it's called a Regular) requires a more or less flat filler piece on the back of the bulkhead, but they are easy to make if you don't have one, say going from a 3-door to a Regular.

The filler strip is only needed on an 88. A 109 has more space between the bulkhead and the seat bulkhead.

True, should have been more specific.

I think I understand, thanks. My guess is I'd be most interested in taking off the pickup cab and putting on a different kind of top, though would try to keep the option of putting it back on maybe.
