The easy answer is HELL NO.. its a truck with relatively 0 comfort and poor economy.. not just fuel... I shudder to calculate the cost per mile of this thing.

But.. its not a logical choice all the time. I always have one or two fiscally irresponsible impractical decisions in the garage

Well its been 110°F plus for the last week here in Phoenix and it's going to be 114°F todat, tomorrow and maybe Sunday. I'll take cold any day - at least I can put on another jacket. The heat sucks.

Simple answer is get the truck and enjoy yourself. If it doesn't suit you then sell it on and I doubt you'll lose any serious money. If your dealing with a car dealership my only piece of advice is do a lot of research to get a really good idea of the actual worth of the series and make sure he doesn't rook you on the deal. In the US some people have a very inflated idea of what an old farm truck is worth.

Cheers

You buy the flintstone model?
HAd a 99lt and a 2004 gmc sle. They were like caddilacs. I've owned my share of caddilacs which to compare them.

who's bargaining.

He's trading in.

There's no way he WON't lose. You CAN NOT win in a trade in.. unless its one of those push pull or drag type of things.. and you have a scrap escort sitting in your lawn.

i talked to the dealer...they are put it up on a lift and everything for me to look at...The deal that they are working is my truck for the rover and some cash...As far as my truck goes it has every option, leather and everything it was the top of the line model...It just wasnt my first choice and i have grown to hate it...actually giving me a really good deal for my truck...a lot more than i thought with the way gas prices are effecting value...It was a $42,000 truck i got for $35,000 because it was a 2005 model they had left over...Ive had my share of good use out of it...the dealership is giving me $21000 for it so im pretty happy with that the rover is $15,000...plus they are putting a new set of tires on...since the dealership is 2 hours away they are going to deliver it to my house as well...plus they are going through the engine gonna pull the head and let me take a look at everything before i buy...but im happy getting the rover and an extra couple grand in my pocket...plus it wont ever get used for long trips just driving around town...the dealer is a Land Rover Dealership too...they have bent over backwards to be helpful and make sure everything is right

For $15k I sure hope every bolt has been replaced, engine and tranny rebuilt, new frame and wiring, new paint, otherwise you are being ripped off big time. If it's just a regular used Rover, it probably isn't worth much more than $5k depending on shape.

That's why I said to research the value of the series truck etc. As you point out, if he does a trade in he'll lose money. If he really wants the series and he understands the relative values of the vehicles then he should look at other means of making the swap without doing a direct trade in.

Having sold the existing truck and paid a reasonable price for a series he should not lose much money even if he has to resell it. Depreciation is no longer a factor and the series market is pretty stable.

according to what he says.. he is dealing with the most generous dealership in the world.

But then again.. they're already proven to be a little odd in keeping an old series truck around.

X2. 15K, I know its a stealership but damn. If you don't mind over paying then get it. The series is a great vehicle.

yea.. come to think of it. 8-10k is a "nice" 109. 15 is a pretty one with no real issues.. at least in my limited shopping.
