So am I the only one that saw those and thought "ABONIMATION"?
Man if you want to ruin a truck with that kind of mod... get a Jeep. The top one, if it is primarily used on pipeline work in the artic I can sort of see the mods since they would be driving on muskeg... but these trucks are getting rarer and rarer and killing one with stuff like that.... I think it is just wrong, but once again it might just be me....

I catch your drift - but in a way they are made to be modified... that's why they came with so many addons from the factory.... what would a Rover be without the mods ? But I do understand what you are saying..... to each his own... |

QUOTE>Yeah, but the add ons that the series had at factory (or available through the dealer network) were cool...<
I don't recall where the picture of the series 2 with the "Terra tires" is from but I recall it was installed when new, by the dealer. As mentioned, I think it was as much of a cost as the base vehicle and was special purpose for use on the tundra. The same as the old photos of the huge tractor tires on the series 2 for forestry work, and the track attachments. Dealer mods. |

...but then we obviously think alike!
I realise mine has been modified with a non-LR engine, but it was like that when I bought it, and frankly, parts are easier to get and everyone around here who knows what end of a hammer to hold, can do any work necessary to an old Holden red motor. Actually, very few Series Land Rovers around these parts still have the original motor. Most have had the Holden motor installed. One reason they didn't change much in 30 years, "if it ain't broke..." well, you know the rest. George P.S. - Nice 109 ya got there!

Gold Rover.. nice 109.. sweet man....
I have no porblem with the mods that are for economy and such (ie new engine, the old engines are under powered for highway use..) It is when people want to turn them into JEEPs with the huge lifts and tires... takes away from the classic look of the Land Rover. They have soooo much class the way they are without all that stuff.... and a lift and big tires generally will not help it off road (unless you are turning it into a rock crawler, but then you would need so many conversions that you might as well start with a D90) But once again these are just one mans opion... I think that the Disco's look cool with mods because they are sort of normal looking trucks, but the series are far from normal....

Never really liked the external roll cage look... The diamond plate looks funny.... no breakover angle with the sidesteps... but other than that yes the mods i think are good.... would probably have gone for narrower tires (but that is because I am in a mud area and like to be able to get traction below the mud, not just ride up on top and slide all over the place)
