Default obdII

does anybody know how to get rid of a 'gearbox fault' code? i have a p38 1995 obdII....I dont have a scanner at this time, but am going to buy one. i just have to get one that is going to get rid of this code. my rover only drives in low gear. i had the transfer case motor replaced and it works fine when you manually put it into high range, then defaults to low after the key is turned off...

you will want to post this on the correct board - the P38 threads are on the Range Rover Sport tab.

I think you will need to take to someone w a rovacom or equivalent test book. ODBII scanners will reset the codes for things related to emissions control, e.g. misfires, etc. if you can clear the code for gearbox fault, my guess is you still will have the problem being stuck in /reverting to low gear.

I would think disconnecting the battery and waiting would also clear it, but Herman is right your standard obd II scanner can't reset this code.

Herman you never know he might have the most technologically advanced series II you have ever seen lol
