Post Series 2a Late 109" Rebuild

Hey all. This is my latest project, and I'm getting a bit obsessive about it. I know for sure it was the very last of the S2a that they brought into Australia before the Series 3. It's got the series 3 instruments, but it has the older style cutout wheel arches.
I need to put a roll bar in, because 95% of the time I won't have a roof on it, but not sure where to fix it to the chassis. Also the top steering pivot arm is siezed, and I can't budge it. I also need to put seats and belts in, but not fussed with just a upholstered piece of foam. Anyone got any suggestions about that arrangement. I want a bench seat that fits, is comfortable and you know, staunch enough to be in my landy.

So you know, The chassis has been cleaned up and resprayed, I have new shocks and springs for it, all the steering ball joints are new, and the steering feels tight as a nut. I have all windows and rear wall panels, but these won't be on it unless I'm going into the hills where it's colder. I'll stick with the half roof and canvasses. Going to run new brake lines. The transmission and diffs have been reconditioned. All pedals are new and I've tracked a new instrument panel. I have moved the radiator mounts forward to accomodate larger engine and radiator, because red engines run hot at low revs, going to need some cooling action.

Yes, I have a fairly good idea what I'm in for, and the end result will be impressive. Any useful comments or pointers welcome, tell me what you reckon.

An early Commodore radiator will just fit in across the front and will give better cooling for the read motor. Don't use the engine fan as it will be useless as it sits too low. Fit electric fans. Those guard cuts are not original, they are a home made job. It appears to be a series 3, you should check the VIN number.

Great, cheers for that. Hadn't thought of the engine fan being low in there, but you're right.
as far as I know, the army put the arch cuts in for some reason.

Lawnchairs

Check on ebay you can probably find some options on there. If I was redoing a old series I would try to get my hands on some of the humvee high back buckets(military not civilian). Fairly comfortable and compact seats. Good luck on the restoration!

Yep, but want a bench seat, for various reasons. I was thinking the front bench off an EH might fit. I don't know. Lawnchairs is still top of the list, or maybe I could just bolt a couple of barstools in.
Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted about progress, when I make some.

The Army guards were a similar shape, but they were made that way in the factory for the Army. With the Army ones, you will still find a right angled lip on the wheel arch.

The guy I got the body off said that he cut the lip off to put some kind of guard on it. Never got around to it, or he's taken it off again. there are pop rivet holes there. can see where he's cut it, pretty rough job, so I'm going to mask it with another alloy strip cut to fit, over a rubber guard. I like the open, high wheel arch. It looks nice.
