Hi all im new to this site so dont know if this topic has come up already. I am looking at getting a series 3 pre 1973 (tax exempt) rover but i was wondering is it possible to covert the engine from 2.25 petrol to fit a 300 tdi engine (one of the best) and pop an auto box on it its going to be my project do it all up bring the old girl into the 21c with all the toys for use as toy and work horse. thanks

1st of all it depends on what country Lincoln is in.

2nd of all, start with a Defender if a 300Tdi is what you want because that is what you will end up with by the time you assemble all of the parts to make it work right.

Lincoln as in Linconshire? You'll be doing alot of popping, fitting a ZF box in a series. Put a 200Tdi in and it will bolt right up to your series gearbox.

Yeah lincoln in lincolnshire will the 200 tdi engine fit straight into the series 3 and i have decided to have it manual instead of auto. Also how easy would it be upgrade the suspension to modern shocks and upgrade brakes to disks if possible for safety. thanks
