There are several differences between the series 2 chassi and the 2A chassis. They are primarily the ebrake brackets and a few others. The series 3 chassis is also a little different.
You shouldn't have any problem with your registration as many people replace their chassis in the UK.

Default yep...

craig4235,
Yeah, the series 3 chassis will work fine with the IIa. I bought the chassis for my 1970 IIa from AB, which IIRC was the Marsland generic chassis. I had some galvanizing slag to clean off and some of the holes had to be tapped out again, but everything fit and lined up nicely.

The advantage of this chassis was that it comes setup for LHD or RHD and has all of the exhaust hangers. If you're a cheap bastage like me, you'll use the RH exhaust as it was about $70 cheaper at the time...

Everything else on the chassis will mount up just fine.

As Terry mentioned, there are slight differences in the mounting tabs for things like brake lines etc...if you're a stickler for a restoration, you might want to see what that Richard's Chassis that DAP sells is like...looks like they are model specific...dunno how much more coin that is though...

The Richards Chassis replacement chassis are actually priced lower than the Marsland. They can even be ordered with custom options if you are making a mutt- just plan ahead to save shipping.

Talking Richard's Chassis

If you want a Richard's Chassis for a IIA, you should act quickly. Dap-Inc is the exclusive US distributor and they do not have one in stock. They only get a container when they can fill one up, so the waits can be long. I ordered mine back in February and it is not expected until late April. I am already tired of waiting! You can probably get on this container for DAP if you call them now. Nice folks.

Bama- your chassis is on the ocean right now. We keep several chassis in stock at all times, so most IIA's can be done from stock without waiting. just happens we were low on them when you needed them. We'll have a half dozen or so chassis in stock in a couple weeks.

Thumbs up That Sounds Great!

Muddy Oval - Didn't realize you are connected with DAP.....new at this! Thanks for the update! Maybe there will be one for craig4235 in the stock ones coming with mine. The research I did made me believe that Richard's was the way to go, if you want a galvanized chassis. I could have purchased another brand without the wait. Will be driving soon!
