Spin on filter adapter - Land Rovers Only

Has anyone replaced the stock container style oil bath with the spin on filter adapter. I know that Atlantic british sells one. I did an oil change this weekend and didn't get the can lined up with the gasket and ended up dumping all the oil I put in. Took about 10 more tries to get it lined up right, I would think it was there and as soon as I tightened it it was just off. Got to the point I was about to say screw it and order the part. Ended up getting it on right, but was wondering if anyone had converted it and liked it.

I too am curious.. My mini is always a pain in the arse too.. and on that the filter is directed down, which means any draining oil flows all over everything beneath it no matter how many rags I stuff in there.

I have a different one from the AB one, but I love it compared to the old stock filter.

I have one sitting next to my computer right now. I will probably try to fit it tomorrow, or maybe the day after. It looks pretty straightforward and idiot proof. As soon as I get it done, I will get back to you.

One of the best mods (IMO) you can make to your sled. The RM one is all tapped for the sensor as well as for a mechanical gauge (guage?). Piece o' cake installation.

I also like the RM unit. For the above stated reasons. It is a well thought out, and profesionally engineered piece.

X2, and the filters are the same type you use on a disco 1 or RRC.

One important thing, the Land Rover Parts one looks idiot proof, but the Rocky Mountain one looks a little similar to mine, which can be put on upside down if you aren't careful. This results in NO OIL to the engine as the filters anti-drainback valve blocks reverse flow. If you get one, make sure it is on right.

...but RM Makes a big point about that in their instructions. In any case, the RDS unit looks very nice, and they are a first-rate outfit (fun to talk with, too!).
It appears that the RDS unit might align the filter more vertically, which would eliminate drips upon removal.

Thanks for some more info. I've always used Atlantic british but since on here I have found alot more suppliers. I like the setup of the RDS adapter, but I do like that AB's is almost half the cost and British Pacific is even a little less. I know in some cases you get what you pay for, but looks like a few people have done this conversion with the different brands and all seem to be a much liked improvement.
