I am refurbishing a Series IIA 1971 with braganjackson11 and we are replacing the steering tie rods. The ones I purchased seem to fit, but are not genuine LR parts. My question concerns the fastening nut supplied (different threads than original). It is a nylock nut raher than a cotter pin castle nut. Will that be okay, or should I return these and get the LR brand? The originals are copper coated shaft, the new ones are steel, it seems. Thanks for the repy!

bamarover,
That's fine to use a locknut, no need to return the part. Make sure you use a lot of anti-seize when assembling. Also, I'm not sure if you got the greaseable ones (QH I believe) or not, but that's what I'd suggest. Bogatyr

Okay, aounds good! Theses do not have zerk fittings. The ones i took off didn't have them, so I didn't think to ask when I ordered. Do you knw of part number, or source for one with zerk. I wonder if they are interchangeable with US auto parts supplier tie rod ball joints? They would be inexpensive.

bamarover,
Sorry, no part number, but I do know I bought the set of 6 greaseable tie rod ends from BritPac for $99...that was a few years ago, so given 2% inflation, they are prolly $150 now...I'm not sure who else sells the greaseable ones. Not that it's really a big deal, since you have a new set, just use them and then when the time comes to replace...go greaseable... Bogatyr
