Hey guys,
I'm looking for a little help. I've got a RR (as you can tell from my name) but I would love to get a hold of an older series truck. My father-in-law had a 1969Series IIa when he was about my age. He drove it up from California to Alaska in about 1970. I've always thought it would be fun to find a close match and fix it up and retrace his trip (except I'd start in Oregon). Well, it just so happens that there's a series Rover in the neighborhood. I've only seen it from the back, so I can't tell exactly what year/series it is, but it's exactly the same color scheme and probably a close enough match for my father. I'm thinking of asking the owner if he'd be willing to part with it (I've never seen it move from the spot it sits in, and it's obvious it hasn't moved in a while). It's pretty dirty, has some moss on it, and some rust (although I don't know to what extent). I really have no idea about the shape it's truely in, but I'd like to be able to make a reasonable offer after inspecting it closer. So, I'm looking for some price ranges. Kind of like Kelly Blue Book does, depending on conditions and all that. I have no idea how much these trucks are worth, so I'm asking those of you who do. Thanks, Joey I've attached a couple of pics of my father's rover to give you an idea of what I'm looking for. Last edited by Nessi94LWB : 01-10-2008 at 10:28 AM. Reason: Adding Pictures |

Oh wow, he had the bug-eyes!
I recetly purchased a series and during my search I noticed a few things... SIIs and IIIs 88 SWB, were no cheaper than 3000 unless the owner was desperate to part with it. Some even had transmission problems or werent even On the truck and still went for that much. Look through Land Rovers for Sale at the Land Rover Exchange , the classifieds section in the rovers north forum, and do as much searching as you possibly can for two reasons... 1 - to get a feel for the market & 2 - so when you do buy one, you dont discovery ANOTHER one in better condition at a better price and have to kick yourself in the butt..lol I'll send you a PM with ALLL the sites I found to be selling old rovers.

be sure to look over the bulkhead and frame CLOSELY for rust! I paid 900 for my 67. But it has a chevy 250, sIII front clip and it needed a tranny. However there was no rust and it was overall in good shape. My brother got his 72 for 4500. His had a new frame and its in great shape. He stole it at that price! Hope that helps.
