Default Vanagon seats?

I've been trying to find some seats with higher backs / backrests for Mr Grumbles, my NADA 109. I really wanted Defender seats, but up here in Canada they more or less don't exist.

However, I've heard that a lot of basic seats like Volkswagon seats work just fine - has anyone ever tried putting Vanagon seats in? They look like they'd do the trick, and a guy in town has a set for $50 so it's not like they'd break the bank... Any thoughts?

I haven't done Vanagon seats but almost any Jeep seat will fit nicely. I have a set of BEstop Trailmax Pro's in my 88 (Bought new) and they have been extremely comfortable. I was careful buildign my adapter plate to use the original LR sliding seat rails and ended up getting an extra 1-2" of leg room as the base of the seat now slides over the top of the flange at the rear of the seat box.

Extra legroom would be ideal!

Well - I figure it's worth a shot then at $50

I would recommend Exmoor's Extreme seats for Series trucks. You can see pictures of them in my SIII in the gallery- they are fantastic! The construction quality is top notch and what a difference in comfort over the OEM seats.

Honda Civic seats also fit. Cheap at the wrecker, but need to modify the bolt pattern to the sliders. I am just over 6' and they give me as much leg room as a 109 pickup can. Only problem, to get at the tool box under the seat, you need to pull the whole seat. (but seeing as I never use that tool box, not a big deal for me.)
