Hi All,
I've got the 'Tropical Roof' on my '66. It has the four pop-up vents to allow fresh air to come in. I was wondering where the rubber seal should be attached: on the vent panel that pops up, or on the roof itself? Mine are about half & half and one is so well sealed I can't get it open. I'm about ready to take the rubber mallet out there and give it a whack! Thanks, -Chris- |

If I'm understanding the correct seal......The black rubber seal between the vent door and frame gets attached to the vent frame, not to the vent door.
The doors don't open very far and found it easier to remove the vents form the roof. Then drill out the pivot rivet where the latch attaches to the frame, allowing the vent to be opened wide enough to apply new seals. The rivet can be replaced using a small bolt and nylock nut or pin. This will also allow sorting out/lube, the moving parts that are not free moving. Dave |
