WTF E Brake
first of all hello all you series guys, I am new to the LR game but not the wheeling world i have a series III and i live in east anglia (east coast england {farm country} [just recently]) so if any one wants a link to some "homeland" rover parts and want to skip international shipping rates let me know (i am USAF and ship at U.S. Rates but it will be a ton slower) i would be happy to help, but for now i have a question. just yesterday my E-brake stopped working on its own it works when i hold it with my hand but it doesn't lock, so what happend i dont think i did anything to it, it just stopped working overnight WTF i have MOT coming up and need to fix it, any suggestions?

Sounds like the spring on the ratchet mechanism broke. If you crawl under there I bet you will see the broken spring hanging. And I do need some Daihatsu parts for my conversion, an 82 degree thermostat and a spare timing belt.

There is a tooth that engages a racket piece.
Is there any tension on the button? Assume you have a RHD so under the drivers seat you should see the mechanism attached to the frame. You may need to spray some penetrating oil on it to free it up. Hopefully that all it is and you don't have to replace any parts.

no ideas on the series hand brake issue but wanted to say welcome to the asylum from a Soldier. Why can't I get stationed in england damnit lol

Mine gets gunked up every once in a while and it needs to be sprayed down with parts cleaner so the ratchet engages. could be that simple...

really easy
So i get back from Bulgaria and get in the old series that has been sitting for about 6 weeks and realize that i knocked the button off the E-brake handle I notice the spring inside and wonder do i just need to twist the knob back on to make the E-Brake work again, and it did, and after sitting for six weeks she started right up first try.....drove home satisfied
