I have a 1989 Range Rove that stalls out when the motor is cold. and then it is hard to restart this only happens in the first five miles of driving if I let it warm up for Five minutes or so it runs fine.

Spark plugs might be starting to foul out...a dirty fuel filter or a restriction in the fuel system...a dirty throttle body and plate...a sensor is not reading right for idle. All these are possibilities, plus I haven't gotten know my motor like an expert yet. A simple tune-up might be in order. If that helps.

I would suspect something in the fuel system dealing with the cold startup as you state. Like the air temp sensor, air flow meter, cold start injector or something. Do you have a LR shop manual? There is a pretty good writeup on the fuel injection system and how to test the different systems in it.
