Default 1990 Range Rover County - Need Advice.

Hey

I'm new to the forum, and rovers as well.
I stumble across a decent deal on a 1990 Range Rover County,
It has 132,000 miles on it, The body is solid, no leaks underneath it. The motor is the 3.9L. Interior is decent minus the back two arm rests being chewed on my dogs or something of that sort. The center console where the window switches are seem to be pulled out a bit as if some one did some work back there and never finished it. The overall appearance of the rover is great.

Just wondering what if there are any issues to look out for with this model?
What should i be worried about electrically?
Is the engine still decent or would i be facing a rebuild soon?
What is the 'county' option?

any other tidbits?

rangerovers.net x2
the only thing i can think of on 90 and earlier rr's is the rear shock bushings are retained by pins(not nuts) so the bushings wear out faster

Check out ALL the electrical gizmos, they all need to work correctly if you are going to stay sane.
Also the the rear tail gate (upper and lower) tend to have rust issues. Rear floor pan and rear wheel arch (both sides) can rust too. The rear crossmember is a known rust area as is the hood/front wheel arch.
Engine, blocks have a nasty rep of cracking. Head gaskets go fairly often at that kind of mileage (if not before). Find out if it has a service history.
Other than that, seach this forum and you will get a feel for the more common faults with the Range Rover.

I may be wrong about this but I beleive the the County is in the middle of the RRC pecking order, Vogue (top of the line), County (still way too many gizmos) and Hunter (even less gizmos but still too many for me).

Hope this helps.

Dogs didn't chew on the rear armrests! It is a design flaw and it is caused by chaff damage when the seats are folded!! A real PITA!

Yep, usually happens in a sever over heating situation.

Ok so it's not a flaw or problem with the motor, it's a flaw with the person behind the wheel.

I suppose so, but the Rover blocks seem to be more prone to this than others.

ALL aluminum blocked engines don't like to be overheated...not just RR's
