Default 1992 a/c

anyone know what kind of refridgerent the 1992 classic's take? the a/c sucks, wanna see if i can recharge it in the future, maybe make it work?

if it hasnt been refitted for the new refrigerant R134a, it would have left the factory with R12 Freon. the valves on the compressor will tell you. also if it got converted by a previous owner its supposed to have a sticker under the hood saying so. vigorous arguments erupt on this board about things like fuels, oil grades, coolants and refrigerants. i will simply say that when my AC was still working, i used 134a and it was fine. I live in TX and I thought it was plenty cold. its much cheaper and easier to go this route.
