I foud a 94 LWB for sale they are currenly asking $1500.00. I asked the salesman if it has been in any accidents and he told me that it had and so it has a salvage rebuilt title but that it was only a minor accident. This would be my first land rover so I am not sure if this is a good deal. Here is a link to the internet add. Mad Max Motors
Any advice for a novice would help. Thanks ![]() |

Once a vehicle gets towards the end of it's depreciated life, whether it has a clear and unblemmished title, or a salvage/rebuilt title makes little or no difference. Same pretty much holds true for the rare and high end.
Most states do a very thorough inspection before allowing a rebuilt car back on the road, and on;t a few give a new title which states it's rebuilt. In CT, they issue a new title as though it never had been a write off by the insurance co, and only a carfax would tell you otherwise. $1500 for a '94 is a pretty good price. I looked at a '93 with a friend yesterday on a lot, and it could be had for even less. He spoke with a friend who goes to the auctions weekly, who said many Discos went through in the '99,2000 and '01 range and only a '2001 went for over $3k. Who would have guessed a 2000 Discovery for under $3k a year ago. |

I went to the website, and it says they are asking 5 grand for it. So if you can get it for 1500.00 that should tell you something right there. Judging by the photos; the EAS air suspension is completely blown out. As the truck is sitting even lower than the "access" position of the settings.
I just bought a 94" LWB for 3 grand. The lot was asking 3500, but took 3. It has full history, all manuals, all receipts from 2003 on, and paperwork including title transfers from every state including original sale from original dealeer. So I was willing to pay a little more for the records. Everything works on it except the a/c, one rear window, and the power mirrors. And Zero rust on body or frame, even tailgate. Also the EAS was replaced with a coil conversion so that saved me a few hundred. I would be very careful unless that 1500 price is what you can really get it for. Good luck with your decision.

Like XtremeMarine said, if that went from $5k to $1500, there's a reason... That said, if the EAS pumps up when you start it up, holds air while driving to evaluate what else does/doesn't work, then you have a better frame of reference. If that all checks out, offer $900 and go to $1100 max to allow for the 300-400 to swap out the EAS. (assuming you swap them yourself)

Thanks for the advice. I called and asked if the air supension was working. They said it was but when I crawled under the truck I found that it was disconected and someone had run an air line to each airbag. Other than that the only things I could find wrong was the passenger window would not roll down and the rear window frame was rusted out. So I asked him to come down on the price and no luck. I figure I will wait a week or two more and check on it again. Once again thanks for the advice, and I think you have got me hooked on the RRC.

Both the rear window and tailgate rust are common issues, if all else is good, not rusted, etc - $1500 or so may not be that bad. let us know how you make out
