Default 1995 RRC questions?

Hi everyone,

Im a new Classic owner and dont know diddly squat about this truck...it looks awesome though...I have a 1995 SWB Classic...
I have some questions about this truck...for one...is it prewired to have a cd changer? mine doesnt have one...if so, where is it located? also, could some one tell me if they ever changed the starter motor and if you can give a some instructions to do it myself...i dont feel like paying $200+ for someone to do it...i hope you guys are as responsive as some of the BMW forums that i used to be on...thanks for the input
Rob

You should have a cd changer already, the changer unit itself is located in the cargo area, right rear, under the little flap... The radio controls the cds (preset1 = cd1, etc)

Why do you think you need to replace the starter? There are other RR "quirks" that could make one think it is the starter, such as the switch on the left side of the transmission....

i guess when i bought the car the owner must have taken the cd changer cuz all i see are wires dangling...
the starter, im told by the always-honest-never-lies technician i visited to get some other work done, is in need of replacement...i called the prior owner and asked him what he thought, and he said that just cleaning the unit and maybe spraying it with a degreaser or something might just work as he had done in the past himself...could you elaborate more on some of the "quirks" you are referring to...i really dont want to dish out any more unnecessary money for this if i could do this myself...
Thanks again

best suggestion is that you do some reading on this site here: Range Rovers

cover much of the fun aspects of RR ownership and maintenance. I've never had a starter repair itself from being cleaned - why are they telling you it needs to be replaced? Also, I suggest getting the factory service manual on CD as it will be a valuable resource for you.

Sounds like the solenoid isn't pulling the drive gear back cleanly... The FSM will have good step-by-step directions on what to do. It's not all that hard...
