Default 1st LR in a Camel Trophy was a Range Rover 1981

And on the 2nd Camel Trophy in 1982. Before the Series LR.

Like a lot of people I thought the 1st LR used was the Series, but it's so cool to discover it was a Range & that the Recovery was also a Range.

I don't think I know of one person that ever thought series rovers were used in a competition which began in the 80's. But I do know a lot of people who thought that rover was the only vehicle ever used, and a good number that thought that Rover actually ran and/or owned the camel trophy competition.

Sorry for the useless info on the Range. Lots of people who ask me questions about my car versus the LR's (they think is a different maker RR & LR not the LR crowed) that I meet at work or on the street ask me this. I had never given a chance to research it until I found the info on the web. At one point I know that the Defender substituted the Series in mid/Late 70's early 80's. So I guess I meant Defender in the 80's, Because people ask me I had never given it thought. It was cool though to discover the info.

Definitely keep posting things you find. Every bit of info is useful to somebody. And even the stuff that some members know, should be refreshed from time to time.

That is an interesting post, I knew about the Krauts & their Yeep. I had no idea the RR1 was used so early. I have two DVD's featuring the LR years, and 1987 to 1989 specifically so I have looked into the matter somewhat!

Now, get to some serious business with your RR, I want to see 35" tires on it by this time next year!

I see that all the time, most people seem to think that they are made by Toyota.

Toyota Land Rover,
