Default 3.5" wide wheel arches to take a 36" tire....

I was reading my Land Rover Monthly and I noticed an add in there from Steve Wells Innovation 4x4 He is comming out with a set of 3.5" wide wheel arch extensions that is supposed to fit a 36" Simex tire. The only reason I took much note of it is because of the price..150 quid... or $263 for a set of 4... I know that my arch extensions were about 6 hundred, but I think they have come down to 500 since, and mine have taken a beating being made of fiber glass. I think that rubber ones would do better, anyway just wanted to let yall wheelers know... the web site is www.innovation4x4.co.uk They stated in the ad that it would be real soon.. I am reading from the December issue, so It may very well be ready to buy...

Default flares

I got the 2.5 inch flares from JC Whitney. They are surface mount universal. Just got through putting them on and they look real nice. The little hump at the door moulding isnt perfect but for 80 bucks for 4 you cant beat them. They are rubber as well so no worries like you have with the glass ones. Just a thought. I think they call them Flexy Flares. Gordo

Here are the photos. The only suggestion I have is to mount the rear flare and then trim it as once you screw it down the cut looks different. Doesnt matter on mine but for cosmetic purposes it could be better. not bad for 80 bucks though and rubber! Gordo

yeah, Id lost a few pieces over the yrs so I bought that in a roll. It is 2" wide and comes with tape and all. I just used shears to cut it. Pretty easy. I think it was 60 bucks. I still got some if you want a part number. PM me. gordo

Gday Gordo,

Hard to see in the photos, how much sheet metal did you trim back when fitting those flairs?

Thanks guys, I love the photo too. Happened at a FLRC club rally. Some guy in a Gwagen launched first, then a D90 and then that RRC you see. The Gwagen sheered all his hub bolts and rumor has it bent the frame. The RRC popped a shock tower, the D90 didnt have any problems. I dont jump mine, it would break in two with all the cancer it has.
Anyway, in regards to how much trimming I did, I basically cut right at the lip of the flared out part of the fender so the surface was flat. I used a die grinder for the most part but used a saw saw on the doors since they are metal. I first cut the outer part with the die grinder and then used that to cut the inners of the door with a saw saw. Gordo
