Default 3.9 Classic cuts out

Hello, I have a late 93 RR Classic 3.9 Vogue EFI with LPG conversion. I have an intermittent problem with the engine cutting out. I can start and drive for 100 plus miles with no problems at all but if I do a couple of stops and leave the car for 5 minutes the car starts ok but after about a 1/4 mile or so (always about this distance) it seems as though it is running out of fuel. The engine doesnt die, it just goes to a very low tick over (150-200rpm) and no matter what you do with the throttle it stays there. Occasionally it will rev to 1000 and then drop back(like an old diesel hunting). When I stop the engine and wait 5 mins it stars ok and off we go. I have noticed however that I can keep the engine going by switching from LPG to petrol, it will go for a while and then the problem reoccurs, switch back to LPG and it is ok again for a while. There has to be a common problem between the LPG and petrol, because a lot of the bits and bobs for the petrol side are not in use for the LPG. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance
Chris

I would look into the ignition amplifier. It is known to cause erratic dwell angles when it gets hot. It's a small box mounted to the ignition. It was later moved to the LH fender, I think this was in '94 or '95. Another suspect is the coolant temperature sensor. This is easy to test with a multimeter.

Thanks for the info, what am I looking for with the multimeter? Is it line voltage or resistance?
