First post!! Hello
![]() quite a few.... 1: What is the car worth? I've recently put it up for sale and had no viewers what so ever. Asking price is £2500 ono. Its an L reg plymouth blue Vogue, just passed 100k miles. Service history. General good condition apart from tail gate. ![]() 2: Hot start.... The car starts like a dream when its cold, but needs turned over once for a few times, then normally starts on the 2nd attempt when up to temp. Is this normal, or a regular gripe? I changed the plugs about 2k miles ago and it made it better for about 1 day!?!! Any suggestions. 3: When cold the car nearly stalls when moving off. This is quite a recent occurance. The car starts fine when cold, idles fine, but as soon as you press the accel the revs drop to about 300, then it picks up a bit. No probs what so ever when warm. 4: Ticking noise on acceleration. again, fairy recent development. Ticking noise, louder with harder acceleration. Its not a bottom end knock etc. I was thinking maybe cracked exhaust manifold? Common prob? 5: Fitting electric leather seats to non electric seated car. Is this easy enough? Are the harnesses for the wires to fit electric seats in all late model RR classics? Any help on any of the above subjects greatly appreciated |

For one Welcome to LRO, and what is 2500 pounds in U.S. currency?
Your Rover could be running rich, and fouling the spark plugs, on a cold day, migh make it worse. A dirty throttle plate could be the cause for the stalling during acceleration. Or a non-responsive MAP sensor could mess with the fuel injectors. Or could be fuel injectors are just dirty or malfunctioning. The ticking might be a sticky valve. I've had this happen before to other cars I've driven. It sounds like you're from England and it's cold over there right now as it is here in Michigan, USA. Cold+Cold Oil, could cause a sticky valve. If this occurs all the time, the valve springs are probably worn, but I'm not entirely sure. OR Your exhaust flange could be leaky, from a loose/broken bolt. Or the exhaust manifold bolts have snaped and leaking through the manifold gasket. You'd have to investigate more on the exhaust to see if there are any leaks from the manifold to tail pipe. Not too sure about the installation of heated seats in a vehicle with no harness for heated seats. It might be hard if no hidden connectors are found to install heated seats. Again I'm not sure. Look around the floor, under the carpet for any open unused connectors, if any, and find out what they're for. A manual might be in order for better understanding of the vehicle.Question for you: What year is that Range Rover? Looks like an 88 or 89, not too sure. Again Welcome to LRO, Adam! ![]()

A bad crankshaft sensor can cause the cold/hot start thing (the reverse of what you'd expect-starts well cold, poorly when hot). Just a guess.
Best way to judge value is to look at what other vehicles are selling for in your area. Look at print and internet adds from private parties. Prices will usually clump within a certain range with some outliers (dreamers). If you want to sell quickly post it a little below that range or the reverse etc. |
