Ok, now it is time for me to start acting on getting the shifter to start working again, and it is a pain in the ass to do!!!

This is what I have done so far:

Taken apart the whole damn center console...

Lubed the hell out of the linkage from the shifter to T-case...

Disconnected the wiring from the shifter (solenoid wires), which then breifly allowed me to shift into Neutral for a bit, I know this cause when I put it into Drive to test it, the truck did not go anywhere, now, after shifting back and fourth to H and N, she now still locks in H.

I reattached the wires to see if that solenoid would reset it self, but nothing.

Now I have a half torn apart interior and a range shifter that doesn' shift at all, what should I move onto next?!

This is quite challenging to get it working.

Also if I have to drill those rivets on the tunnel for the tranny that houses the shifter for the t-case, can I use something other than rivets to put her back in?

No, I don't think so, otherwise, the shifter would shift loosely, and nothing would be engaging when shifted.

Yeah I will try to keep updated on this, I might have to try removing that solenoid but from what I see, it is built in and no easy way of removing it.

Pat, try this..

Disconnect the wires from the shifter, then try to goto "L" while slightly rolling the truck. See if that does it.

Ok, I will give it a shot once again later today.

What would else be the problem if it doesn't shift into LO? Yesterday I managed to get it into Neutral, with the wires disconnected, but it took a good wiggle to to get the shifter to move. Also the linkage, I blasted with a shit load of WD-40, seemed to help, not really.

But yeah I will try again later today with a rolling start.

Angry Frustrating!!!

Well, not surprisingly, after doing a very slow rolling start, the shifter, with no wires plugged into the shifter solenoid, didn't even shift into Neatral or LO.

I dunno what else to think, I might have to try drilling the rivets for the shifter on the tranny tunnel and get a good look.

its not as hard as it sounds its just a labor intensive process. tp put it back to geather you can use scrues also but i would say use rivits as they hold better and its fairly easy to put them in.
if u dont have a rivet gun get one from big lots for about 5 bucks and a big nox of rivets from any hardware store for about 5 bucks too.

DAMN THAT IS CHEAP FOR A RIVET GUN!! I might just do that tomorrow then. I hope after this the shifter will then work.

Almost forgot to say something: I got the lever to work, after a pain in the ass job of drilling the rivets from the cover and breaking two friggen' drill bits in the process. Turns out it was the solenoid, frozen in the locked position, and I could just barely move it with a screw driver to unlock, so I said screw it, and left it off. Now everything works. Yay, I got Lo Range now. LOL
