Guys...I need your advice.
I'm thinking about buying a 90-94 Range Rover, not as a daily driver.
What are the issues I should be looking at when checking out a rr like this?
The big issues I am aware of are, air suspension, rust on tailgate and of course leaks. What else can you think of?
Also is the storage space larger in a LWB or is it just the rear seat legroom?
This truck onebay now has 61k and air susp removed.
Thanks for your help!

I could be wrong...but I believe air suspension didn't come around till 93..... Also the cargo room is the same in LWB and SWB.....Just more leg room... Look for rust on the lift gate in the rear...see if it opens freely, a lot of them stick. go to www.rangerovers.net for a lot of the problem check list. problems I have had with mine have mainly been caused by off-roading.... all but the alternator... Power steering seems to be a common leak area as well as oil coooler lines

If the truck's been in the northeast or midwest forget it. These are always rusty and not worth the money you will have to drop into it. Check for rust in the rear wheel wells, fuel filter connections, brake calipers, fuel lines, ect. Find a clean one in the southwest or florida.
i thought the LWB was 8 inches longer and this additional 8 inches was distributed between more leg room in the back seat and more cargo room, like 5 and 3 or something, but i could be wrong

your right. County LWB:
Priced at $4,700 above base SWB County model it was introduced in October 1992. The LWB was 8 inches longer and had much more rear seat leg room (a total of 39.7 inches!). The rear passenger compartment got seven of the extra eight inches. It also had six more cubic feet of loadspace with the rear seat folded down. All LWB Range Rovers were County models, the letters LWB were added to right side of the County logo on the tailgate. The LWB letters were silver gray with a black outline.

I second the guys on midwest-northeasy Classics...I am a victim to that very reason...see my old hood.
My LWB is nice...much better now that PPR helped me out with it. Rear leg room is friggen nice, like first class seating on an airplane almost, just no button to call for the flight attendant.
IMHO, I think the Classics are the best Range Rovers ever built. Simple, rigid axles, same classic design for 25 years (1970-1995).

X2 pat (MN)!!!! if u c a little surface rust fix it up right away! i have a little flakes starting to show in the front wheel well so i am going to cut it out and rust prof it and seal and rivot some sheet alum under there. the only surface rust i have is on the left rear quarter panel (next to the brake lights). i have some sun damage that i was going to get some touch up paint. i wish LR would have done the whole body in alum. the hood, tail gates, back quarter panels are the only parts that r not alum. i do not think i missed anything

Make sure the viscous coupling is still working, I hear they wear out after about 150K miles and new ones are costly. Depending on the age check to see if the distrib, coil and wires have been replaced. If not they can lead to some hard to diagnose electrical gremlins.
Check for rust on the frame as well, sometimes the galvanizing isnt the best and can lead to some trouble spots.
By this time motor and tranny mounts tend to have dried up and can come apart.
And spring saggage? on the drivers side.
Power steering pumps leak like stuck pigs, not much for concern though, seems like every rover does.

I would try to find one without ABS. My '92 does not have ABS or sway bars. Not all RRC's from the Northeast are rust buckets. Mine is in very good condition as far as that goes. You are welcome to check mine out in person and I can show you some of the common problem areas.
