I would like to fit a "pistol grip" type gear shifter (ie vertical rather than horizontal grip, more like a manual shifter)to my auto 92 RR. Any ideas how best to do this? Are there some models that a recycled shifter could be obtained from? I am wanting an easier shifter to use since I found holding 1st gear to about 3000rpm greatly improves RR performance in city traffic. The standard shifter is clumsy to use I find.

Hi,
I bet if you remove your "T" shape gear knob, just about any non-rover knob could be made to work. But, what about the little push button that has to be pushed in so you can get out of Park? This would be tricky to get around (a little on the unsafe side also) I would put up with the RR T knob if you can, Andy |

Don't know if they will work in a Rover, but you could look at B&M Racing .

Thanks Kevin and LandyAndy,
It is all a bit more complicated than I anticipated. I presume since no-one has mentioned it, there is no RR model that has a more comfortable shifter for manual use?! |
