My 1994 LWB Classic Rangie with 150k was going great until a couple days ago.
She would turn over fine and has spark. I listened closely to the fuel pump and it was silent when I went to crank the engine. I pulled the fuel supply line from the fuel rail and cranked it over and nada, no fuel came out. I swapped the relays, checked the inertia switch, no luck. I just bought an entire new fuel pump from Atlantic/British and plugged it in to the wire harness to test it and it made not a sound. Anyone have any ideas? I am kind of lost at this point. thanks, Mutator |

Confirm power and gorund at the relay. If the swicth and solnoid side both have power, you know your problem is between the relay and the pump.
If the solenoid power is missing, then you know your problem is between your ECU and Relay.

okay, picked up a multi-meter & the CDROM manual. Unfortunately,
the CDROM manual DOES NOT run on my MAC! So I am in the dark with documentation until I buy a PC or the hardcopy manual. ANYWAY, I replaced the fuel relay (blue connector base under passenger seat?) with a new relay, then I checked at the fuel pump with the multi-meter with the ignition key in the first click on position and measured + 4vdc at what I assume is power and ground. At this point, my battery was about dead so I have it on the charger now. Does any of this sound promising? Should I be expecting to see +12vdc at the connector? thanks, mutator |

You should be expecting Battery voltage, whatever that is at the time. If not running, that woudl be close to 12. 4 volts would make me think a corroded wire somewhere.
What color wires are you getting your reading from?

regharged my battery overnite. now I am getting 5vdc on the black and green wires at the fuel pump.
the other pair white/purple and black show no voltage - is that pair for the sender level? sender seems to be working fine and reads level on the dash? any chance that the ECU would step down the voltage or should it without question be around 12vdc? thanks, mutator |

checked the back of the blue base connector relay under passenger seat and finding 12vdc. but, i don't see any of the same color code wires there that i do at the fuel pump.
i find it really cumbersome to deal with all the electonics under the seats - is there a better way? also can't find the wire harness under the truck that leads to the tank. (snow on the ground doesn't help) |

so it looks like white/purple is hot to the pump - well, I have 0 vdc on that.
all other wires to the pump/sender seem okay. I took 12 vdc off my cig lighter to the pump and got her started and in my garage now. I guess I need to trace the white/purple wire and see what is up with it. Anything come to light with this new detail? regards, Mutator |
