Default 95 Lwb

After having my 93 LWB totalled in a rear end accident a few months ago, I just bouth a 95 LWB that looks to be in great shape. It has high mileage (170K), but the previous owner was an aircraft mechanic who brought the car here to Massachusetts from CA and took meticulous care of it. He re-did the interior with new leather seats, carpets, etc., and had the body painted. There is very little rust on the Rover.

My question is this--i am looking to add a third row of seats. I think I can put my hands on the hard to find bench seat, but it has no mounting hardware. Does anyone have any experience in installing these?

Thanks ver much.

The only rear seat i've ever seen was a rear facing seat. I'm not sure of the installation. I believe you can get one from Atlantic British.
I thought they were kinda pricey. And you can't put full size humans back there.

Default Thanks Okie

I saw one on ebay--in sort of rough shape, it is rear facing, and it is for my 2 kids and their friends.

I may give it a shot.

well if you can find the mounting hardware, it'd be worth it to buy a cheap seat in rough shape and just have the thing resurfaced.

That does not sound very safe to me. What about seat belts? What about suitable mouting locations, hardwear etc. Rear facing seats are a bad idea, that is why the OEM's don't do it anymore. Sorry, but it is just not safe. Depending on where you live it may also be illegal. I would check it out with the local police first, if you are in a acccident and the kids or their friends are hurt as a result of this modification it can come back and bite you in the ass.....hard.
Please re-think the 3rd row of seats plan for the Rover. I don't want to say it, not out loud, not on this forum, but if you need to move a lot kids then you may have to face the horror. Two words....mini, and van of course then you will also need a gun to shoot yourself with as you will have given up on life. However, on the bright side, this will free up a seat so the rest of the family can go back to the Rover.

Default Thanks Roverdom

I thought a little bit more about the lack of mounting hardware and decided not to go for it. I also was concerned about the safety issues...although as for the possibility of banning me from Rover, the family's vote was unanimous.

Thanks.

AHHH, there is nothing like the prospect of a mini van to clear the haze. There is something so wrong about paying $40,000 or more for something so soulless and bland (and crap) as a mini van. Glad to hear your sticking with your Rover.
