I just bought a 95 classic lwb and will be needing to replave the rear hatch switch. My question is about the key operation. Is it locked when the key is verticle or horizontal? I am just trying to make it work for now. Thanks.
Also, anyone know where I should start looking for a replacement? Nick |

By switch, you mean the lock cylinder itself right? The spring on mine is worn so bad that it moves almost freely and doesn't seem to do much when it is pushed in. I believe it is supposed to be the button that releases the window. My problem is I cant tell when it is locked or not, so I might be trying to shut the window with the side latches in a locked position.

now that i have more time to properly read,I see that the hatch is open and your having troubble closing it. Right? the spring in the lock button is a coil about 1/4" I.D and about 3/4" O.D. Its not a very easy one to find localy.
If you find that it dosn't latch propperly when closing, make sure the rubber seal hasn't dropped from the upper and is making a bad contact with the lower gate. If all is fitting well, then along the the bottom of the upper gate there is a metal trim held in with phillip screws, remove trim as well as the 3rd brake cover, you will see a rod with a barrol nut. I think its about 6 or 7 mm. back off the jam nut and adjust the barrol nut. this will adjust the throw of the gate catches. |

Great. I actuall went down to the boneyard today where they have 4 parts vehicles. I bought the entire handle with a nice lock cylinder and replaced the entire thing. It works perfect now. It isn't keyed but locks with the electronic locks so will work fine for me. Thanks for all the help!
