Posts: 111 95 SWB - What's it worth? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I saw a white 95 SWB last weekend that I'm going back to drive this Saturday. Just a quick look around the vehicle and peaking in the windows the condition is as follows : Paint : Average - no big scratches would probably buff out nicely Body : Average - no trail pinstripes, small ding by drivers door handle and behind passenger tire. Hood looks fine but roof looks like it's had a bit of hail damage. Probably could be popped out. Upper tailgate : Signs of rust (who would have guessed that!) Interior : Good minimal wear on the drivers seat. Looks like it would clean up very well. Headliner : ? Couldn't see that well Leaks : It wasn't parked on any big puddles. Must be empty! Carfax : Clean - Originally a southern LR, but it did spend some time in Maryland so I'll need to look into the rust issues further. I spoke to the owner last night and also found out the following : Wants $4,000 105,000 miles No major repair has been done to the LR. He knew the previous 2 owners ABS light is on, but it's functioning : Bad sensor? EAS light is on, but the LR airs up, he said you just can't change the ride hight. Seat switches don't work Sunroof works I'll check the cruise, windows, locks, and usual rust spots on Saturday. He says the engine is strong and everything else mechanically is good to go. Is there anything else I need to look for? Any thoughts on the ABS and EAS? I'm guessing there is probably a bad sensor or an unseated sensor in the ABS system. I'll try reseating the 2 rear sensors. From what I understand if it's a front one you have to replace it ~ $300 each. Provided the engine/tranny is in good shape and there is no big rust issue I'm thinking about offering $2,000 - $2,500. |

Not stated in the original post....The goal for this LR is to initially be a 3rd vehicle. I don't mind working on the LR myself where possible. I've been in love with this model for a while and found one that is close to what I'm looking for nearby. If it's sorted out well I'll probably use it as a daily driver. I'm only 5 miles from work so it's only going to see < 30 miles a day. The EAS will probably be gutted for a 2" spring / shock replacement at some point, ARB winch bumper front, not sure on rear bumper, sliders, skid plates, rack, hood blackout and lots of stickers! Something nice enough to drive every day, but something that I'm not going to freak out about taking on a trail.

As long as nothing comes up on the drive $2500 to $3000 sound pretty good to me. Just be prepared to put way more miles on it than you expect. Once I got my truck all sorted out (knock on wood) I started driving the hell out of it.
