gold coast rovers has got them for $101.00. I use lots of used parts BUT that is 1 part I would NEVER buy used! I did one on my 88,and talk about a BITCH! And I do this for a living! You should buy one that you know will last. that job is NO picnic! GOOD LUCK!

My favorite saying about the RRC heater core is;
It is like the Land Rover factory put the heater core in the middle of an empty room and then decided to build the rest of the truck around it.

having spent a good several months staring at my heater core as i had the ENTIRE interior pulled out, i agree. I should have replaced mine while I was in there. i would rather cut off a finger than take all that sh$t back apart.
ATL British is sellign new heater core and heater motor combo kit for 299. I just got advertisement material in my inbox on this today.

the east has lots of igneous. just get a couple dozen potato sized rocks and put em on the wood stove over night in the morning stuff em in an onion sack and cram the whole sack up into the heater core housing i wear gloves cause they're HOT!!! (with the floor flap opened) it'll blow hot air and defrost your windows for quite a while. i'll do that forever(amoungst other silly improvisations) rather than replace that damned heater core, i know what a pain that is , mine will have a by-pass hose on it FOREVER!!! no one should ever have to do that job!!!!

I started this job on my son's classic, decided I needed to work on something else, and sold the car before I finished it. The guy who bought (Yo Keith) had the enthusiasm of a newbie owner to finish it in about 3 hours. Another friend got a stop leak product from an RV supply place, put it in his system, and his core stopped leaking, heats fine, and he's dodged that bullet for 3 winters now. |
