anybody have install instructions for a genuine brush guard?
I got a used genuine LR brush guard for my 90 classic, and need to know how to put it on- the right way! Anyone have experience with this, or the instructions for it?

Personally, I would go to the trouble. The plastic coating peels off and they start rusting pretty quick. If you really want that look, or intend on going offroad, get one that will stand up to abuse. LR originals barely handle supermarket parking lots. If you get any kind of whack on the outside edges, the bar will do more damage to your wings than if it wasn't even there

Installing a brush bar....
Hi Ron,
I have one installed, it simply wraps around underside of your normal bumper in two places & is bolted to the chassis with two large through bolts at each point. Terry is right, if you hit something sharp & the plastic is torn, water will eventually work its way underneath & start eating away from the inside out. After saying that, mine is 14 years old, hasn't had a easy life & still looks great! I will try & snap a photo of the mounting points..... Good luck, Andy  |

If it does get all rusty and you want to have it recoated you could take it to Line-X or Rhino-lining and I'll bet they would take care of you.

thanks for the pic andy- that helps. I'll have to buy the nuts and bolts for it, they didn't come with it. It's in good shape, no tears in the coating and I think I got a good deal on it, being that it is LR- $339. The dealer quote was $848 from them.

Not sure you need grade 8 bolts for it but I got my grade 8's at Ace Hardware.
I'm mounting two recovery point in there also. I got them from a salvage yard off a Suburban. Something to think about while your under there. I think I spent 15$ US on the Suburban hooks. Beats 45$ J.A.T.E. rings. The bottom bolt and the hole there is just about 3 inches. The bolt holes on the Suburban hooks are 3 inches. I'm pretty sure mine will fit. In any event good luck. I need to wait for dryer and warmer weather before getting under there to do mine.
