Default Anyone install a Remote Starter?

Hey all,

does anyone have a remote starter in their RRC? I want to put one in and have gotten conflicting information.

2 shops tell me to come on down and they'll install it. But one shop said that because the remotes work off the positive terminal, and the RRC starts off the negative terminal, that it would be very expensive as they'd have to run relays etc, etc.

is that a load or is this a basic install.

any help appreciated as it just snowed in Boston....

I thought the issue with Rovers having remote starters is because of the factory alarm not permitting it. I know this is the case with the DII but not sure about the RRC's. I am very interested in this though.

Most cars with factory remotes dont have that extra button to initiate the start/stop of the remote start. It can be a little tricky to combine buttons on the factory remote to do this or in the case of a sedan with a factory trunk pop on the remote to disable the trunk portion and dedicate that pulse signal to engage the remote start. but considering we dont have that option that point is mute.
My opinion is if you are interested in a remote start on a factory alarmed vehicle, you will have to disable it first. Usually the module can be disconnected without compromise to the vehicle. You wont need the factory alarm if you get a descent aftermarket alarm. It will control the door locks, window rollup/rolldown and sunroof closure if you choose. I have worked for a major vehicle security company for 12 years and although I have not done a 95 rover I assure you it can be done without the problems you speak of. I did my 89 RRC and even though you have a factory alarm and I dont, the basics are the same. Seriously consider a good car alarm with multiple channels,it will open your options tremendously.
