I've heard the output of air is slow... but my memory could be off.

I use a 15 lb. Power Tank and an electric pump (100% duty cycle) under the hood.

What sought of air-on compressor do you current have?
I converted mine a few years back, but I had a York 10CFM compressor already fitted as my air-con compressor.
Basically you need a few things:
1) Tank
2) Pressure relief valve
3) Pressure switch.
4) Hose to run from compressor to tank.

The first thing to decide is where you are going to fit the tank and what size will fit.

Next go searching Ebay of cheap hardware stores and find a home compressor with a tank the size you need. I have about 22 litres and the complete home compressor cost me about $75. This is the cheapest way to get all the gear you need.

Once you get the compressor, remove and throw away the 110v motor and compressor. The pipe that went from the compressor to the tank is the pipe that you will use to fit the air line from your compressor to.

Buy some hi-temp hose to run from the compressor to the tank. You need hi-temp stuff as the compressor (and the air from it) gets very ot. Standard air line type hose just melts and blows apart.

On the electrical switch on the tank, run one side of the switch to earth and the other side to the earth connection to the relay controlling the air-con compressor. This will switch the compressor off when the tank gets to pressure and back on when the pressure drops. The power activation side of the relay goes to a switch inside the cab so that you can decide when it runs.

The air going into the compressor needs a filter on the hose, just use the filter that came with the home compressor you purchased.
