Body Off Rebuild - Any Advice Would Help
Hey Everybody,
Well here's the deal, I have an '87 RRC with the full get up, 4" lift, ARB air lockers, onboard air, 33" M/T's, sliders, custom front and rear bumpers, roof rack, etc... The problem is the frame and body have pretty much had it. I got ahold of a '90 SWB RRC in mint condition with 57K on it, but the brake system has to be completely replaced (lines, calipers, master cylinder), and it came with a '93 LWB RRC in great condition too. ( I actually got both of them for $1000) The frame is solid on the '90, but has the surface rust start.
What I want to do is a body off rebuild, not necessarily restoration. That way I can redo all the brake lines easier, cleanup and repaint the frame, replace any bad wires, and then put in the lift kit from my '87 and all the other valuable parts. I would love any and all advice I can get on this as I have never done a body off rebuild (e.g., how do I go about doing it, what should I do/not do, what should I look for, has anyone done this themselves and do they have pictures, etc.) OR am I wasting my time and should I just work on it as is...
Thank you!
Adam
